If ISD does not have any options for advice or support, we will, if possible, refer you to another office that can help you with your request.

Examples of such questions could relate to adults abroad in need of protection due to illness or old age, or people imprisoned in Germany wishing to make contact with family members living abroad. ISD can also help with cross-border financial issues (maintenance), questions about parentage (establishing paternity/DNA testing) or clarifying whether a certain medical treatment or psychiatric placement is possible abroad in individual cases.
